Esra Gezer

Esra Gezer (b. 1995, Istanbul) completed her education in the Plastic Arts Department of Maçka Akif Tunçel Anatolian Vocational High School and graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Ceramics and Glass Department in 2018. To deepen her artistic research, she was accepted into the Ceramics Master's Program at the Institute of Fine Arts of the same university in 2023. Gezer's contemporary art practice transcends the traditional boundaries of clay and ceramic materials to examine the layered relationships between memory, space, and object. Combining various materials, primarily porcelain, she challenges the physical and perceptual limits of the material, focusing on the projections of spaces and everyday objects onto the human psyche. While questioning the attitudes, impositions, and internal ruptures created by psychological and social norms on the individual, she continues her work through explorations of material and form. Gezer actively continues her artistic production in her studio in Istanbul. Additionally, to share her experience in contemporary ceramics, she organizes art education programs and creative workshops both in her own studio and at various institutions.
