Defne Parman

Defne Parman began her undergraduate studies in Paris at L’École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d’Art – Olivier de Serres, specializing in sculpture and metalwork. She then obtained a second bachelor's degree from Paris Sorbonne Nouvelle University, completing a program in set and costume design. In 2021, she participated in the "Short Stories from Long Quarantine Days" exhibition at CoBAC WorkSpace. In the same year, she took part in Art Weeks VII at Mixer Gallery. Her work titled "Disproportionate" was selected for and awarded at the 41st Akbank Contemporary Artists Award Exhibition. With her "Mourning" series, she was among the artists selected for the 11th edition of the Mamut Art Project. In May 2024, she participated as one of three artists in the "Piece by Piece" exhibition at Merdiven Art Space, curated by artist Neriman Polat. During the same period, she showcased her works at Art Weeks X, curated by İlhan Sayın, as part of the "Independent Artists Living in Şişli" selection. In April 2025, she will participate in the "Under the Carpet" exhibition at offgrid art space, curated by Nilay Yerebasmaz, alongside artist Esra Gezer. She has worked on numerous theater plays, film shoots, festivals, and art events in Paris, Brussels, London, and Istanbul. The film "Beginnings," directed by Ozan Yoleri, for which she served as art director, received the Best Debut Film Honorable Mention Award at the 2023 Istanbul Film Festival.
